Doctors Chau and Hendrickson are graduates of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) with Doctorates of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Hanh Chau:
Dr. Chau has also trained and been certified in Veterinary Acupuncture. She is also
a certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist which she believes compliments both
her surgical skills as well as her training in acupuncture therapy.
She has been in practice for 22 years in the DC metro area. She has worked at some of the highest
quality veterinary care facilities in Virginia and Maryland. In addition to her
doctorate, she has pursued hands-on training in a variety of specialized skills,
traveling to: Wisconsin, Colorado, Florida and New Jersey over the last 5 years
to complement her veterinary medicine with:
Advanced Dentistry training in
Florida
Echocardiograms by ultrasound in New Jersey (as recently as 2019)
A multi-year course in
acupuncture in Florida
A multi-year course in rehabilitation in Colorado and
Florida
And endoscopy training in Illinois
Dr. Chau has multiple local veterinarians as her personal clients, seeing their pets as their primary doctor. Many of her former staff who work at other clinics still bring their pets to see Dr. Chau despite working at other locations. Dr. Chau has been identified as among the best general veterinarians in the Northern Virginia area as recently as 2020 by Northern Virginia Living (nominated by other veterinarians.) She has been interviewed in the Washington Post, appeared on WJLA 7 news, and has contributed to national veterinary publications.
Dr. Theresa Hendrickson
Dr. Theresa Hendrickson joined Family Vet in 2019. She graduated with Doctor Chau in 1998 from Virginia Tech. She has practiced in the DC area for 18 years and managed the facility at Pender for many years. This past June 2019 she completed a supplemental ultrasound training course with Dr. Chau in New Jersey. She has a large loyal group of clients that have followed her for years. She brings a wealth of knowledge in handling emergency cases.
